In her address, Mrs. Patience Nyondo revealed that TAAM held three important meetings with the International Air Transport Association (IATA), where serious concerns were raised about airlines’ difficulties in repatriating funds from Malawi.
These challenges continue to discourage airlines from entering or expanding in the country.
One option under discussion is a potential shift toward USD-denominated ticketing to stabilize operations—an idea that is not yet a directive but one TAAM members must prepare for.
She emphasized that improving forex flows is essential for restoring airline confidence and ensuring competitive fares.
